Abundant pumpkins, scarecrows ready to delight
Head to the Arboretum this fall season for breathtaking gardens filled with the beauty of late-season flowers and autumn accents of pumpkins, squash and scarecrows. The pumpkin extravaganza, on display Oct. 1-31, can be credited to viticulturists John and Jenny Thull, who select, tend to and harvest more than 350 varieties of pumpkins, squash and gourds (known as Cucurbita) at the Arboretum’s Horticultural Research Center, including unique variations seldom seen in grocery stores and soon for sale at the Arboretum’s AppleHouse.
Feel the fall spirit as you explore the whimsical Scarecrows in the Garden through Oct. 31 on Dahlberg Terrace and Scarecrow Hill. Revel in the artistry of gardening experts from Bachman’s, crafty Arboretum staff and creative community members. Don’t forget to vote for your favorite!
