Cloverleaf Courts Faith Community Helps Fight Hunger
Cloverleaf Courts has an active and engaged faith community, led by our chaplain, Pastor Rick MacKinnon. Each week, he provides a large worship service and small group bible study and “Prayer & Coffee” group that alternate weekly. Through these spiritual offerings, he has led our faith community through several fundraising campaigns determined by the residents. One such recipient is Feed My Starving Children (FMSC), who has received multiple substantial monetary donations from our faith community over the years.
In September, Pastor Rick and residents will take the Lang Nelson bus to our local chapter of FMSC in Coon Rapids to pack meals. This will be a hands-on event that will show the inner workings of a world-renowned non-profit our residents have donated to for so long. Residents are excited and the sign-up sheet is sure to fill up fast.
Feed My Starving Children was founded in 1987 by Minnesota businessman Richard Proudfit, who was inspired to feed hungry children the world over after witnessing their hunger first-hand during a mission trip to Honduras five years earlier. Since then, FMSC has grown to a nation-wide program with a global impact but is still rooted in Minnesota. The ingredients for meals are purchased with donated funds, and the MannaPak meals are made by volunteers each and every day.
