Avail Academy Brings the Music to Blaine Courts!
Our residents were treated to a concert by Avail Christian Academy’s 3rd and 4th grade choir during the holidays, and both residents, students and teachers enjoyed it so much that we’re pairing up for more frequent intergenerational visits! February, the choir will be back to sing songs of love and kindness for a Valentine’s Day-themed concert, and future visits are in the works.
Avail Christian Academy has been a friend to our sister site, Cloverleaf Courts, for fifteen years or more, bringing a class of 5th graders to visit and play games with our residents the entire school year. When the choir director asked if we’d like to start up some semi-regular programs at Blaine Courts, we jumped at the opportunity to say yes and get things going on the calendar. The intergenerational program brings so much joy to both the resident and the student, creating lasting friendships that have spanned over a decade for some, keeping in touch through graduating from college and starting their lives as adults. They are also one of the several area schools that receive items from our annual school supply drive in late summer. We can’t say enough about our relationship with Avail!
Avail Academy is a private Christian K-8 school that was formed in 1961. There are 80+ local churches represented within their student body, and they offer many opportunities for their students to volunteer and engage their local community.
