Anthony James Welcomes Daniel and Sharon

Our new residents, Daniel and Sharon have only been part of the Anthony James community for under a month, but they already feel so at home! They came here from a community in Golden Valley, and they were looking for a change, somewhere that had the fun friendly atmosphere that can be felt a soon as the doors of our elevator open. Daniel was born and raised in Liberia, and came to the U.S. in 1981. He made a pitstop in Ohio before coming to Minnesota. Once in Minnesota he went to school to become a chef and worked at many restaurants and hotels for the next 17 years. He went through some difficulty with his vision in 2003 and sought assistance from the school of the blind. That experience inspired him to begin his own non-profit, by the name of Liberia Build Project, which assists seniors and helps them navigate all sorts of endeavors such as Medicare, immigration, MNsure, etc.

Sharon was born and raised in West Virginia and then made her way to Minnesota in the mid 1970’s, where she began work in the insurance industry. She semi-retired and began work at Goodwill Industries. However, she met Daniel in 2004 and quickly got involved in his non-profit. After working together to help others, everything clicked and they have been together ever since. She still continues to do office work in support of his organization. Sharon has family in Woodbury and Scandia, as well as in North Carolina.

The two of them enjoy going out to eat together, and always make sure to get in their exercise by walking laps around the park, usually 3 miles worth, 3 days per week. The look forward to their time here at the Anthony James, and have both already been involved in so many of the activities that make up the Lang Nelson Experience!
